THE WINERY Dreams - they should be chased and nurtured and given the chance to become real. Kevin and Jill Mittan decided to chase their dream in 2004. The Midlife Crisis Winery was the result. The dream pursued is a small but growing boutique winery with the Mittans are hands-on owners and winemakers that pretty much do everything while working full time "day jobs" in the entertainment industry in LA. During the inaugural vintage in 2004, 800 cases were produced and only 50 remain. The 2005 vintage has doubled production and Midlife plans to double production again. THE TASTING ROOM Midlife Crisis Winery operated a tasting room in a historic building in downtown Paso Robles within walking distance of award winning restaurants and hotels. They are open Thursday through Monday from 10:30am to 6pm. A $3 fee is a great logo glass and tastes of five wines. The fee is be waived with a wine purchase. Large group tastings are free when scheduled in advance. THE WINE CLUB Midlife Crisis offers a very unique wine club, the Crisis Management Team. The team offers two wine shipments each year. You pick the wines in each shipment based on available inventory. Members also receive complimentary wine tasting, members only specials, and substantial discounts on merchandise and wines. Visit the website or call us for all the details. WHAT'S NEXT The Midlife Crisis Winery will continue to grow and the dream will become the new reality. For the time being, a little chasing is still going on. The Mittans climb into cars each weekend and make the trip to Paso Robles with their Australian Shepherds. Weekends are spent at the winery or tasting room until they have to head back t LA to work the day jobs again. The dream will be totally real when plans for a winery, tasting room, vineyard and gardens are completed on the property located in Paso Robles just off route 46E. Until then, the Mittans thank you and hope you will continue to enjoy their wines while they chase the dream. | |
