Fall Fest in San Luis Obispo County
100 days, 100 things to do — Food, wine, arts, museums and more…see what’s happening this fall.

Sure there’s the beach…and Hearst Castle…and all the things you know about in San Luis Obispo County—but what about custom car shows, a Halloween Zoo Carnival, winemaker dinners in Paso Robles or a holiday craft show? All this fall—from September through December, you can take a daily peek at what’s going on in San Luis Obispo County.

Some of the special events scheduled during the Fall Fest months include:

- Zoo Boo Fest: More Halloween treats than tricks are in store during the annual Zoo Boo HallZOOween Carnival. A haunted house, tons of carnival games, bounce house, goodies and “Scary-oke” await little boys and ghouls. Come in costume and get your picture taken with your favorite costumed character. Tickets will be available at the Zoo, Atascadero Chamber of Commerce and Atascadero City Hall beginning October 13th.

  • HEARST CASTLE® GARDEN TOUR, SAN SIMEON, through October 31.  Visitors to Hearst Castle® can experience a spectacular display of color and fragrance on the Garden Tour.  Much of the estate’s extensive gardens, terraces and walkways are included in this very special tour.  In addition to the hundreds of roses, azaleas, rhododendrons and other plants and shrubs, the tour also includes the Hidden Terrace, Neptune Pool Dressing Rooms, Casa del Mar, and the Wine Cellar in Casa Grande.  (800) 444-4445.   www.hearstcastle.com.
     
  • ART ON THE BEACH, AVILA BEACH, present through November 27.  Every Sunday (weather permitting), some 20 artists from the local El Camino Art Association converge on Avila Beach to paint, display their paintings and sell their artwork.  Avila Beach Plaza near the beach.  (805) 541-8000.  www.SanLuisObispoCounty.com.
     
  • PLEIN AIR PAINTING FESTIVAL, SAN LUIS OBISPO, October 3-9.  Some 50 of the top Plein Air Painters in the nation are scheduled to participate in the 4th Annual Plein Air Painting Festival.  Artists display their paintings of beaches, barns, boats, vineyards, and other scenic San Luis Obispo County landmarks, with their top three works being presented for the juried exhibition.  Quick draw live auction in Mission Plaza on Saturday and Gala & Silent Auction on Saturday night.  San Luis Obispo Art Center, located downtown.  (805) 541-6600.  www.sloartcenter.org.
