The Luxurious Carlton Hotel
A Fabulous Few Days in Wine Country
(ATASCADERO, CA) – It took some doing, but the Carlton Hotel
in Atascadero reveals its sumptuous beginnings in details such
as lush carpeting, alabaster light covers, and gleaming wooden
banisters leading up the broad central stairway. If you want
a fabulous mixture of old-style craftsmanship and materials with
today’s service and technology, then you will be most happy with
a stay in the Carlton.
Originally built in 1929, the hotel has been painstaking restored.
It re-opened in 2004 and has been called a wine-country traveler’s
paradise. The 52 guestrooms include two luxury suites that sit
atop the hotel and afford a view of the rolling hills of the
California coast. The Carlton boasts large, comfortable rooms
with lavish baths. Rooms have marble bathrooms with deep whirlpool
baths, 400-thread count sheets, and all the basics to help make
you presentable to the outside world: makeup mirrors, hairdryers,
irons, ironing boards, and complimentary newspapers.
There are several dining options, including a beautiful Lounge
and Wine Bar; the Carlton Restaurant and Grill -- an excellent
restaurant with a long wine list; diVine Piano Lounge; and for
breakfast, The Carlton Bakery and Café. Especially charming
is the beautiful rooftop patio perfect for enjoying nice weather,
good company, and central coast wines.
Room rates range from $170 to $600 per night, based on single
or double occupancy. The hotel is centrally located in San Luis
Obispo County giving the traveler many opportunities to explore
hither and yon.
